Today I went fly fishing with old friends on the Guadalupe River, near Canyon Lake. Weather was cold and overcast. The river was high and flowing pretty fast from recent rains. I caught a Brown Trout and a Rainbow Trout. Catch and release. Good times were had.
I enjoy fly fishing and when I visit Austin I head out with my good friend and fly fishing guide Alvin, owner of All Water Guides.
I have also included a link to information on Guadalupe River Trout Fishing.
Visiting Austin this week and I went for a hike up Mount Bonnell today. Stunning view above Lake Austin, seen in the accompanying picture I took.
Mount Bonnell is the highest natural point in the Austin area. At 775 feet, it provides a vista for viewing Lake Austin, downtown and the surrounding hills.
It has been a popular tourist destination since the 1850’s.
Check out the link to an article Do You Know the History Behind Austin’s Mount Bonell? which includes history and photos of Mount Bonnell.
My trip to Austin also included sampling some of the excellent BBQ in Austin and Central Texas. Beef is King and the brisket is the star. I went to several notable locations in Austin and Lockhart, Texas. Some included Smitty’s Market, Blacks, and Kreutz Market.
I sampled the brisket, ribs and sausage. All of which was very good, but Terry Blacks in Austin was the winner this trip out. See the accompanying photo I snapped for the visual proof.
